Rebranding and Graphic Concepts for New Munidex Site

As the UI & Graphic Design Intern at Munidex, I had a rewarding experience that helped me solidify my approach to designing interfaces and understand how to visualize brands. I worked remotely to create graphic concepts, illustrations, and wireframes for the company’s newly launched website.

CONTEXT

Overview

Munidex is a software solution service company that serves functionality for many departments to help local officials streamline budgeting, drive transparency, and enable citizen engagement. The company has plans to rebrand their business and seeks my visual design skills for their new website, now successfully launched.
👩‍💻 My Role

During this internship, I redesigned the company brand logo and illustrated graphic icons for their new website. I closely collaborated with the Director of Operations and Design Executive to create and verify these new logo and graphic designs. My tasks also included exploring wireframes for the user login page for an improved user flow.

REFLECTION

Takeaways

💡 Expand your ideas and explore different avenues
I brainstormed how the UAM can be accessed from the dashboard, as well as how to structure of the UAM page, with key features in mind. Because admins primarily want to quickly check or update accounts, I explored how the UAM can be accessed as an overlaying modal on the dashboard, without the need to transition to a new page.

🌱 Keep it simple - let the visuals talk
I worked on various graphic icons and logo designs and after many iterations and changes, I realized it was important to not overcomplicate designs. A simple approach can have visual impact that reaches the audience. With that, I focused more on understanding the company’s brand vision and what visually reflects or supports that vision.

📈 Make it a habit to research and discover design trends
Aside from the projects I was working on, there were weekly meetings where our time was directed towards design trends. Exploring and looking into trends became important for me to discover new ideas that I was not aware of. There is such a large dictionary of trends and different ways of designing interaction that were inspiring to me, as I move forward and work on future projects.
